LOS ROQUES
Restaurant El Rincon del ArrozType of food: Mediterranean Opening hours: Description: A restaurant which is always up to date and never deceives, run by Juan Ayza Albiol, a fabulous interpreter of the gastronomy maxim. Juan bathes the Mediterranean kitchen with his own character, reserving wide space for surprises. There he delights us with fresh cod baked in an onion sauce with pine nuts, delicately accompanied with crunchy bread, this was just the first dish, we were then delighted with medallions of sirloin steak with cheese, paprika and fried onions, Juan who does not go crazy proposing many desserts: permits that we reach heaven with an assortment of chocolates of various textures; or with a perfect "tiramisu" sprinkled with chocolate shavings. Unusual dishes: tempura of prawns and pumpkin with teriyake, prawn shavings and pampano with sour vinegar from Monje; sauteed baby squid over ali-oli, grilled lamb with Palma honey and vegetables. Restaurant Casa del MarType of food: Seafood Description: This seafood restaurant has won the price of Golden Plate of Gastronomy twice. The fish served here is caught daily, as you'd expect. The level of service is top notch, and the food is delicious. Try also the dishes with clams and oysters. Restaurant La ViejaType of food: Seafood Opening hours: Description: Educated in the catering school of Santiago de Compostela, the Galacian Luis Cabanas (from Lugo) brings to us in this house, the best seafood kitchen in La Caleta, an area of Costa Adeje, bordered by the sea, full of life, very near to elegant residential areas and luxury hotels. In this old port a few years ago there were groups of simple eating houses, today here are new appertising restaurants, like this one, with first class quality basic material. In "La Vieja" we have from the fisherman who fish every day, fresh fish of the island; viejas, sama, lubina, dorada, cherne, chicharro, caballa, alfonsillo, bonito, cabracho, salmon, albacora, merluza, salmoneta, burro, brota etc. There is always octopus and shellfish, paella and rice in stock, as well as a wide selection of national white wine with a profusion of Canarian and Albarinos. Here you can chose your preference between a comfortable and elegant interior or be attended to in the spacious terrace next to the sea. Restaurant El DuendeType of food: Canarian Opening hours: Description: They have demonstrated being deserving of the title "signature cuisine". This is not something which happens by chance or a sign of luck, it´s use expresses that the chef to which it alludes has covered a long journey of ineludibly outside ideas, in order to one day find himself alone with his work. In cooking, everything begins with breaking away from conventional ideas. Some chefs become demoralised in the search for something different, new flavours, other harmonies, and unusual textures. The vocation "New Cuisine" cost hard work, sweat and tears, not only to conceive and compose, but also to achieve someome to sample it, up until then we were packedwith food and no-one proposed that quantity was exchangeable to quality. Later false prophets and imitators arrived and made millions of copies of masterpieces, some acceptable but the majority grotesque. This is how, in defense of culinary creativity, the denomination "signature" arose, making the designs of the dishes personal, as in the case of Jesus Gonzalez and his signature Canarian cuisine.
